There are a few things we're learning. I'll record
them here. |

The three most important ingredients to enjoying the
waterway are 1) a flexible schedule, 2) NOAA weather radio, and 3) knowledge
of good anchorages and inexpensive docks along the route. We have
never said, "we must be somewhere on a certain date." Doing so can
cause problems. We listen to the updated weather every morning and
change plans to ensure we enjoy the day. |
Learned from a fellow traveler: use something red and green
near the conning station to be a visible reminder of the color of the buoys
as you proceed thru the waterway. We use key floaters colored red and
green hanging them on the appropriate side of the wheel ... a no brainer and
it works to keep you straight on which side of the buoy you belong as they
change along the waterway. |
Take a few chances. We've seen things we wanted to do
and did them. In a couple of cases it cost us some frustration, but
overall it's worth it. |
In unknown waters call SeaTow or Towboat US in the morning
asking about trouble spots. They are very helpful, especially if you
are a member and mention this. |
